JANET PASCHAL RECEIVES DOVE AWARD NOMINATION

The Gospel Music Association announced the nominees for the 2011 Dove Awards on Wednesday in Atlanta, and among those receiving top honors were popular singer, songwriter, author and talk show host, Janet Paschal. Paschal was among seven finalists for Female Vocalist of the Year. The 42nd Annual Dove Awards will be held on April 20 at the historic Fox Theatre’s Grand Salon in Atlanta.
This recent nomination marks one of many honors and accolades bestowed upon Paschal during her 30-year musical career. With more than a dozen recordings to her credit, Paschal’s passion and vulnerability are most evident in her inspiring music, including her latest release, Treasure. Her recordings have been recognized with numerous Grammy and Dove Award nominations, and she is consistently named among Gospel Music’s favorite soloists by the genre’s top trade magazines.
Born in Reidsville, North Carolina, Paschal, has shared the stage with presidents and is a featured artist on the popular Gaither Homecoming Video Series. After battling breast cancer in 2005, Paschal resumed her touring schedule, including concerts, women’s conferences and cancer awareness events. In November, 2008, the popular singer released her latest book, Treasures Of The Snow, which chronicles her triumphant battle with cancer and stories from three decades in Gospel music. Her first literary work, The Good Road became a best seller.
Paschal’s travels in 2010 took her throughout the US and Canada, as well as nearly a dozen European countries. In addition to her concert touring schedule, she also hosts her own weekly radio program, Walking The Good Road, which airs on more than 20 stations, covering seven states, as well as a two-minute daily syndicated program airing across the US, as well as in Canada and Europe, currently available on more than 30 media outlets. The programs focus on cancer awareness. For the past two years, she has hosted the Annual Cancer Walk at the National Quartet Convention, Southern Gospel Music’s premier week-long festival. Proceeds from the event are presented to the American Cancer Society. The third annual event is slated to take place in September.
